The Audi brand has lasted the test of time that is for sure. Audi vehicles have been in production since the year 1909. August Horch established Horch in 1909 and traded under the Audi name, due to his inability to use his name for his company. The name Horch in German means “hark” or “to hear,” therefore, cleverly, Horch decided to use the Latin word for “listen” and there the brand Audi was formed. Even though officially the company was formed in 1909, Horch completed his first car just eight years earlier. That was just the beginning. Audi is known for creating works of art primary in the luxury category of vehicles.
The emblem represents the collaboration of four automobile manufacturers becoming one; Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. The amalgamation of these four corporations is represented in the four rings emblem and unique to Audi and the formation of the Auto Union AG. The new amalgamation was able to produce a wide array of motor vehicles from motorcycles to luxury saloon cars. During World War II, Audi was forced to dismantle and assets were expropriated without compensation. This was only a minor hiccup because about a year later they set up shop in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Ever since, Audi customers have remained loyal and swear by the quality of their purchases. Shortly after the relocation, in 1958, Daimler-Benz acquired ownership of the Auto Union AG. The new corporation has grown to be one of the major vehicle manufacturers in Germany and is also widely popular throughout the world.
